Message from Temple Israel about the H1N1 Virus
Temple Israel remains in contact with local and state health officials about the H1N1 virus. We will provide further updates as necessary. We are taking a variety of steps to ensure the safety and health of our congregants.
We have placed additional signage in all buildings, encouraging proper hand washing techniques. Wall-mounted hand sanitizers are available in the building. Temple's custodial staff members have been briefed about sanitizing procedures.
What You Can Do to Stay Healthy
There are everyday actions people can take to stay healthy.
- Cover your nose and mouth with a tissue when you cough or sneeze. Throw the tissue in the trash after you use it.
- Wash your hands often with soap and water, especially after you cough or sneeze. Wash your hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds (the time it takes you to sing “Happy Birthday” twice.) Alcohol-based hand cleaners are also effective.
- Avoid touching your eyes, nose or mouth. Germs spread that way.
Try to avoid close contact with sick people.
- Influenza is thought to spread mainly person-to-person through coughing or sneezing of infected people.
- In order to keep all our congregation healthy, it’s important to remember that if you have a fever, please must stay home until fever-free for 24 hours, without fever reducing medicine.
