Financial support for Temple Israel comes from three primary sources: membership dues, endowed funds, and contributions. We make every effort to make membership as affordable as possible. We have a special dues structure for young adults so that they too can be a part of the congregation. Dues are structured on a “fair share” basis and members self-assess what they are able to contribute within guidelines determined by the Board of Trustees. We cannot meet our budget needs based on dues alone.
Your contributions to our endowed funds, as well as donations for various projects, are absolutely vital to the financial health of the congregation. In order to provide the high level of services, to maintain the quality education, and to keep the building open, we rely on your generosity. This section explains the many avenues to provide financial support to Temple. We greatly appreciate your tax-deductible contribution.
The images you see at the right are samples of the donation cards we send on your behalf whenever you make a donation in someone’s honor or memory. Thus, by giving tzedakah to Temple, you can also let someone else know that you are thinking about them. Please go the contribution form to make a donation.

Shop...Eat...Help Temple Israel, Too!
Gift certificates of $25 for Whole Foods, Baker’s, Kwik Shop, Bag ‘N Save and $18 for The Bookworm are available in the Temple office. Buy them and keep them handy for shopping at these stores which are gracious enough to return a percentage to Temple. The reimbursements are used for camp scholarships. If you have children attending Religious School classes on Wednesday afternoons or Sunday mornings, Toby Fellman makes it convenient to buy the gift certificates by selling them in the foyer. You may also contact Receptionist Maureen Kube to but gift certificates.

BECOMING A PATRON
Patrons of Temple Israel voluntarily agree to pay $2,000 above fair share dues. Being a Patron is voluntary and you may choose whether or not to renew each year. If you choose to become a Patron, your name will be included on the beautiful Sponsor plaque located outside the Sanctuary doors. Sponsors of Temple Israel voluntarily agree to pay 25% above fair share dues. Sponsorship is voluntary and you may choose whether or not to renew Sponsorship each year. Making an outright endowment gift today or providing for a legacy gift in your estate plans is a clear statement about the values and beliefs that have shaped your life, as well as your vision of the congregation for future generations. Some common ways to create a permanent legacy include:

Our Endowment Funds are our safety nets. They allow us to grow and respond to current needs. They also help perpetuate what has been built and nurtured over the years.  In the Friedman Social Hall, a large sculpture symbolizing the “tree of life” adorns the east wall. Gold leaves and boulders bear messages of love and remembrance. Come and see the ways that family and friends have celebrated big birthdays and anniversaries and paid tribute to loved ones. Perhaps you have a special occasion on the horizon that merits a “leaf” or a “boulder."

Donations to our funds are welcome and encouraged from congregants and non-congregants alike. Many seek to provide support for our Jewish community in honor of a lifecycle event such as a birth, Bar or Bat Mitzvah, or wedding, or to honor the memory of a loved one or friend. Others contribute for no special reason at all except to be there and be counted. This section lists Temple Israel’s gift-giving opportunities so you can see at a glance the wide range of Temple activities that receive financial support. We would appreciate a minimum donation of $6. Donations in honor of or in memory of an individual or an event are acknowledged in the monthly Temple bulletin.
Often congregants make a donation to the staff discretionary funds to show appreciation for the ways in which they have shared in a family’s Simcha (a joyous occasion) or offered support through times of hardship and loss. The staff use these funds to do tzedakah, such as helping congregants in need, providing additional camp scholarships, and increasing funds to implement programs at Temple.
